Club Championships

PERPETUAL TROPHIES

Club members are encouraged to participate in Club Meets held during the summer season, ending with our Club Championships. Club Members are awarded points based on their participation and improvement when compared to their personal best times in each stroke.

2024/25 PERPETUAL TROPHY WINNERS

WINNER
President's Cup Overall Points Winner Awarded to the swimmer who accumulates the most points throughout the summer swimming season. Originally donated by Ron Privilege (Club President 1977-79). Isabella Leong & Isla Dorrington
Committee Shield Committee Shield Most Improved Senior (14 years and over) Awarded to the senior swimmer who shows the most improvement in their swimming in the current season when compared to prior season. First presented 1991/92 season. Selected by Club Coach and Points Recorder. Jet Leong
Jim McMahon Memorial Shield Most outstanding Junior (11-13 years) Awarded to the most outstanding Junior Club member. Considers best times, points, Club records and Club representation at interclub, state, and national events. Presented to the Club by Floss McMahon in remembrance of her late husband, Jim McMahon who was deeply involved in the development of junior sport within the Marist/Newman Colleges. Selected by Club Coach and Points Recorder. Max Przeradzki
Dolman Cup Most Outstanding Junior (11-13 years) Awarded to the Junior swimmer who shows the most improvement in their swimming for the current season when compared to prior summer season. First presented in 1977/78 season. Selected by Club Coach and Points Recorder. Samantha Glyde
Life Member's Trophy Best Sub-Junior (10 years and under) Considers best times, points, Club records and Club representation at interclub and intraclub events. First presented in 2006/07 season. Selected by Club Coach and Points Recorder. Clara Schlitter
Colvin Perpetual Trophy Sub-Junior Encouragement Award (10 years and under) Awarded to the swimmer in the Sub-Junior age group who has shown dedication and enthusiasm toward their swimming throughout the summer season. Abigail Ballem
Swarbrick Perpetual Trophy Most Dedicated at Club Training Awarded to a swimmer who is a regular attendee at training and who, in the Coach’s opinion, puts the most effort into those sessions. Normally awarded to a swimmer who participates in the training program throughout the entire year. Presented to the Club by the Swarbrick family. Mr Swarbrick was in the army, stationed in Perth for a short time before transferring to the US. As a measure of thanks for the friendship and enjoyment his family received at the Club, he donated this trophy. Selected by Club Coach. Caleb McMahon

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Club Championships acknowledge all round ability and effort. We encourage swimmers of all ages and abilities to enter and make this day a spirited competition. 

CONDITIONS FOR ELIGIBILITY 

  • Swimmers must register by the nominated date.
  • Swimmers’ age is as on the day of the Championships.
  • Swimmers must swim in their allocated event (i.e correct age and stroke) to be eligible for points for that event. There are no exceptions to this rule.  
  • Swimmers must swim a minimum of 3 events (in their allocated events) to be eligible to win a trophy.
  • Swimmers aged 8-9 years must swim all three nominated events to be eligible to win a trophy.
  • Any swimmer who is technically disqualified may still use that event towards eligibility to win a trophy (even though no points were awarded).

Club Championship trophies are awarded on a points system to the best all round swimmer in each age group as follows: 

  • 1st place: 6 points 
  • 2nd place: 4 points
  • 3rd place: 3 points 
  • 4th place: 2 points 
  • 5th place: 1 point 

Events in all age groups will be swum as seeded heats (no finals), in as many heats as required.
